The trip upstream is a gentle way to see riverside life. Sights on the west bank include the white chedi and the Municipal Hall. On the east bank north of the Rim Ping condominium, a large private property with traditional Thai buildings belongs to a descendant of the Chiang Mai royal family.
Very desirable private residences lie on both banks north of the Super Highway. Cold drinks and fruit in a small sala refresh passengers at the end of the upstream port.
