This trek is most suitable for young poeple, not so for elders or families with young children.
We do this tour every day. As tranport we use pick-ups.
Please provide a copy of your passport (identification page).
The mahout training course is held at "Chang Siam Elephant Training School"
Pick-up time at your hotel or guest-house is about 08:00 h.
Day 1:
After we have picked up all our trainees we will drive to Muang Mai market to buy some bananas and sugarcane to feed
the elephants. After that we will drive to "Chang Siam Elephant Training School" (about 1 h).
The mahout training starts with theoretical instructions in the basics of controlling an elephant by experienced
elephant trainers in english language.
After the instructions you will start getting in touch with the elephant and apply what you have learned under the
supervision of the trainers. You will learn how to ride and lead your elephant and to properly feed your elephant while
sitting on its neck.
Lunch will be a Thai set menu at a local restaurant (vegetarian food available).
After lunch you will lead your elephant into the forest to collect food for him for about 2 hours. You will also
learn how to lead an elephant into a river for bathing after which you can practice that extensively.
After the bathing session you can take a rest with tea or coffee and have dinner.
Overnight stay in the elephant training camp.
Day 2:
After breakfast we will drive to a waterfall (about 1 hour). From there we will hike through the jungle for about 45
min to another waterfall where we will have lunch. After lunch we will hike back to our truck and drive to the rafting
camp. From there you can make an exciting whitewater ride down Mae Taeng River for about 2 hours and a ride on a bamboo
raft down Mae Taeng River for about 15 minutes.
We will be back in Chiang Mai at about 16:00 hours.
