This course is held every day.     What to bring on a trek

This course is a "joint" course, that means you join with others to share the costs (up to 10 persons).

Payment has to be made one day before the course. We can visit you at your hotel or guest-house to collect the payment or you come to the office of Buddy Tours.

Pick-up time at your hotel or guest-house is about 08:00 to 08:30 h.

The mahout training course is held in the beautiful mountain village of Ban Tung La Korn

Itinerary

Day one

  • Drive to local market to buy feed (bananas, watermelons, sugarcane) for your elephant.
  • Drive to Meo hill-tribe village
  • The guide will lead a tour through the village and explain about the tribal culture and livestyle
  • Hiking through the jungle (4h)
  • Swimming & relaxing at waterfall
  • Overnight stay at private jungle camp

Day two

  • Have breakfast
  • Hiking through the jungle (3h)
  • Lunch
  • Visit of amazing Bat Cave
  • Arrival at Ban Tung La Korn at about 15:00h
  • Change clothes
  • Introduction of the mahout training course
  • Learn basic elephant language, how to control and to ride
  • Learn to ride on its neck using different techniques
  • Go with your elephant to the river and bath & brush it
  • Bring your elephant to a mud pool (if you wish you can go in with it)
  • Feed your elephant
  • Get a traditional massage from local people
  • Overnight stay at elephant training camp

Day three

  • Feed your elephant
  • Have breakfast
  • More practice in controling the elephant
  • Lunch
  • Adventure elephant ride on jungle trails along a river
  • Feed your elephant
  • Hiking through the jungle (2h)
  • Bamboo rafting (1h)

Back in Chiang Mai at about 17:30 h.
