The Night Bazaar in Chiang Mai

The Night Bazaar offers a wide-range of handicrafts from open-air stalls on crowded side-walks to smart boutiques.

The evening hours (18:00 - 23:00; money changing till 22:00) and the variety of dining and entertainment make this the best one-stop shopping center in town. Enjoy a good haggle, for bargaining is the norm.

Handicraft shopping, especially for hill-tribe products, is excellent in "The Nakhorn Ping Night Bazaar Building" (be sure to see the artists in the basement level) and the Galare Food and Shopping Center, which offers an open-air dining terrace and free performances of classical dancing and Thai boxing (19:00 - 22:30).

More handicrafts can be found in the Anusarn Market Bazaar.

The air-conditioned Chiang Inn Plaza (11:00 - 23:00) and Chiang Mai Pavilion buildings have many handicraft boutiques. The Chiang Inn Plaza has several good restaurants on the basement floor, as well as Western fast-food outlets popular with Thais.

Several restaurants can be found on Loi Khroh Road and south on Chang Khlan Road.

The biggest choice of food, however, is at the Anusarn Market.
